G,
This is a good opportunity to remind merchants that American Express has outlined a process for Yahoo! merchants to activiate CID verification. Merchants must either contact their Amex account manager (if they have one), or submit their request to a particular email address that has been set up by Amex. You can find out more about how to submit this request, and the email address it should be sent to, here: <a href="http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/store/risk/risk-12.html" rel="nofollow">http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/store/risk/risk-12.html</a>. Please note that you should not phone Amex customer support to request this feature.

Merchants should be aware that according to American Express, Yahoo store merchants cannot use the CVV feature yet, unless you're part of a "select" chosen group by Amex. Its a mystery as to why Yahoo has not let everyone know this.

Bruce,

Both the source-type (associated with IMAGE) and image-type (associated with IMAGE-REF) attributes take the following values:

:gif
:jpeg
:png

In terms of ordering and setting a value for this, engineering has provided the following information:

There are several ways of specifying the value (for uploaded default image type), and, in the order listed it’s "first one wins":

1--several operators now have image-type parameter, if non-NIL, it is used
2--variable override is checked next and used if non-NIL
3--variables are checked, and used if non-NIL
4--GIF is the default.

Hope that provides some more detail on these new variables.

Sunil,

The new variables are working but we need to clarify the expected behavior around these since there is some confusion. Changing the variables to a new file format (say from GIF to JPEG) will only change the file format for resized images that are subsequently uploaded (or reuploaded by FTP or a multi-image upload). Existing images will not change format unless you reupload them. Hope that helps clarify.

Paul,
Great news about the new features. When will the image format options be functional? I see the 2 new Variables as well as the new "source-type" attribute for the IMAGE RTML operator. I assume that attribute can take @Uploaded-img-default-type as a value. But setting that Variable to JPEG and adding it as a value to my IMAGE statements does not seem to have any effect.

Is this feature on the "coming soon" list or am I overlooking something obvious (which is always a distinct possibility at this hour).

Bob
You can change the text label to be CVN/CID or even Card Verification Number/Card Id Number so that the label for the text field is reflective of both labels on both images. American Express does refer to the card security code as a CID.

But, I can't change the American Express IMAGE to “card verification number”.

It would be nice to refer to it the same way for IMAGES and TEXT.
