Yahoo! Store Merchants and Developers Team Up for Haiti Relief Fund
January 29, 2010 | In General | 2 CommentsThis is the kind of news we really like to share. If you’ve been thinking of how you can help support Haiti relief efforts, you’re not alone. As of the time of this blog post, 13 Yahoo! store merchants and developer partners have come together to raise money with a week of offers that benefit Haiti disaster relief funds.
During the week of February 1-5, the following Yahoo! stores will donate a percentage of every sale to charities including the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Samaritan’s Purse, and World Vision:
- All Things Jeep
- Brides’ Village
- Bright and Bold
- Calypso Parrot
- Classic Charms
- Nature Chest
- Shop the Gift Basket Store
- Shower-Curtains.com
- Titanium-Buzz
The following Yahoo! Merchant Solutions developer partners are also playing a key role in this week of fundraising, either through donating their services to help with this event, or by donating portions of their own sales:
Kudos to these merchants and developers for coming together to support relief efforts for Haiti. To learn more about what each store and developer is doing, visit the event’s information page.
If you’re a Yahoo! store or a developer partner also donating percentages of sales to Haiti relief, please let us and Yahoo! Store blog readers know by leaving a comment. Please note: in order to be posted, your comment must include a link to an information page on your site that outlines what your business is doing to help the relief efforts.

Just wanted to say that we decided to do this sooner rather than later. Last week we donated 5% of our profits to Doctors Without Borders, which amounted to a $250 donation.

FastPivot’s(a Yahoo! Merchant Solutions Developer Partner) Two Responses to Haiti Earthquake Crisis
Original Link: http://ecommerceblog.fastpivot.com/index.php/2010/01/16/fastpivots-two-responses-to-haiti-earthquake-crisis/
The recent earthquake crises in Haiti has prompted FastPivot.com President Matthew Ledford to act locally and internationally in two distinct ways:
1) As a memorial and symbol of hope for the Haitian earthquake victims, FastPivot.com will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day and his vision for a peaceful tomorrow in service to others. FastPivot.com President Matthew Ledford has officially named this Monday, January 18th, 2010 a paid “service” holiday for FastPivot.com employees.
“Following Twitter’s lead, we are giving our team a paid holiday off Monday to go and make a difference by serving their community,” said Ledford.
In honor of MLK Day, FastPivot.com employees will unplug from their work on custom Yahoo Stores and other e-commerce store design, build, and development projects this Monday to help others within the FastPivot.com home office community of Asheville, NC and throughout other satellite cities in the USA.
FastPivot.com staff have been encouraged to check Serve.gov for a complete listing of area community service projects currently needing help.
2) In addition to offering community service on MLK Day in response to the Earthquake Crisis in Haiti, FastPivot.com is also initiating a 1+1=4 Matching Gifts partnership with Salesforce.com Foundation to raise an anticipated $500,000 for immediate relief to Haitian earthquake victims.
FastPivot.com employees who donate just a dollar to the Haiti relief efforts through Salesforce.com Foundation will in essence be multiplying their charitable efforts by four; so one charitable dollar instantly becomes four charitable dollars, five becomes twenty and so on! The amount of love and relief that can be multiplied here is incredible!
How it works: Salesforce.com Foundation matches the initial FastPivot.com employee dollar given, then alerts FastPivot.com of the employee donation. FastPivot.com in turn gives Salesforce.com Foundation another dollar to match that employee donation. Saleforce.com Foundation then matches FastPivot.com’s employee match donation.
“It is gratifying to see the outpouring of individual and corporate generosity building. What if all the small businesses in America agreed to match the donations of all their people so foundations like Salesforce could meet their foundation goal?,” FastPivot.com President, Matthew Ledford challenges.
PS. Since the posting of this blog, SalesForce.com Foundation has already met their goal of raising $500,000 for Haiti Earthquake victims. Thank you to all who contributed!
