We often get questions from you, our merchants, about upcoming feature releases we have planned. Since we know you’re curious, we thought we’d give you a quick glimpse of what’s coming up for your Yahoo! store.

Saved Cards for Customer Registration (Updated release date: late August 2011)

(Editor’s note: The release date information for Saved Cards has been updated since the original post. Online help will be available for Saved Cards on the morning of August 30, 2011.)

In late August, we plan to release a Saved Cards feature for our Customer Registration system. Saved Cards will allow your registered customers to store credit and debit card information within their customer profile, with a goal of providing a more efficient checkout process when they shop from your store. When Saved Cards is enabled, registered customers may add, edit, and delete cards from their profile at any time, and will be given the option to save new card information after placing an order with your store.

Saved Cards will be available to all Yahoo! Merchant Solutions Starter, Standard, Professional, and Yahoo! Store accounts. Stay tuned for the feature release announcement.

Enhanced Site Search (Estimated for August 2011)

We’re currently at work on enhanced site search for your store. The initial set of site search enhancements is estimated for release in August, and will be the first of a multi-phased feature release to upgrade the existing site search functionality. You can expect a cleaner layout, filtering and drill-down options, and customization controls similar to Checkout & Registration Manager. While our enhanced site search will be a big improvement over our current site search, the feature set for this release will not replace advanced site search technologies such as Nextopia, SLI systems, or others.

Incremental Publishing in Store Editor (Estimated for August/September 2011)

By overwhelming request, we will be updating our publishing functionality to allow for either an incremental publish or a full publish in Store Editor. An incremental publish will publish only changes made to site pages and dependent pages since your last publish, and a full publish will publish your entire site and all associated variables. The intent of this feature is to facilitate more efficient store publishing for our merchants. Upon release, incremental publishing will be available to all Yahoo! Merchant Solutions Starter, Standard, Professional, and Yahoo! Store plans.

Page-Level 301 Redirects (TBD)

To help our merchants with their SEO needs, we plan to launch a new feature that will allow you to manage page-level redirects. Still under development, we hope to have this launched in 2011.

Please note that all feature release dates provided in this post are estimates only. As with any technical development process, schedules and priorities can shift unexpectedly.

Here at Yahoo! Small Business, we hope you’re having a great start to your summer, and we look forward to making the official announcements about these feature releases to you.

Awesome, a lot of these features are ones I’ve wanted for quite some time, especially the ones that will benefit my jewelry customers (improved search and saved cards). Excited to hear that they will be coming soon! Thank you!

I am especially looking forward to the Page Level Redirects. My products are very dynamic and sell out quickly so this feature should greatly help with SEO.

Incremental publishing will save tons of time

Any word on a product review feature? Many eCommerce solutions offer this without the addition of a 3rd party add on (that can cost $1000 or more in the case of Yahoo! Store)…

If this was integrated into the Yahoo solution it would be great…Im sure other merchants would love this as well…

So what was updated last night?

Comment by Nick — September 28, 2011 @ 7:51 am

Hi Fred,
Thanks for your question. A product review feature is not on our 2011 roadmap. Do know, though, that the product team does see requests and feedback, and so your request will be considered alongside other merchant requests for new features and feature enhancements when doing our development planning.

Hi Nick,
Great question, and thank you for it. Along with the updates to Catalog Manager to help our merchants with Google’s new product feed requirements, we also released the new Page Redirect Manager feature, which gives merchants the ability to create page-level 301 redirects. I’ll be posting about Page Redirect Manager tomorrow. In the meantime, you can visit our help section to learn more about it, or click the “Page Redirect Manager” link in Store Manager to check it out.

I’m digging the new 301 Redirect tool, very easy to use and immediately effective. But, I’m wondering what happened to enhanced search. August came and went, and now September has passed…will we see it in October at least? It seems somewhere along the way that redirects stepped in front of enhanced search. Not sure why that is.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for asking, and great to hear that you’ve been using the new Page Redirect Manager. Yes, you will be seeing a new site search soon, and the announcement about it will be posted here on the blog. I’ll update the comments section on this post as well when the announcement is out.

Hello again…what are the planned updates for October 17th? Will this be the highly anticipated enhanced site search? If so this would be great as we approach the holiday season…

I personally would like to have three improvements in Yahoo! Store :

1. More country selections for shipping calculator in Floating Cart besides USA and Canada.
2. A 5-Star Product review system plus customer review features like those in Amazon for products.
3. Product feed for publishing data information to Google Merchant Center.
